About The Role
Motability Operations have started to explore the opportunities that advances in vehicle technology may offer to both the company and our customers.
Reporting to the Head of IT Architecture; this role will sit within a new team, tasked with the development of services that use vehicle data and in-car applications to optimise our processes, build new revenue streams and deliver great customer service.  
Main areas of responsibility: 
  • To build and manage an in-house technical team dedicated to delivering data products
    o Work with our chosen delivery partner to define an enduring team structure
    o Recruit and manage technical team members within that structure

  • To become an expert in connected vehicle technology by: 
    o Building relationships with industry experts; manufacturers; and technology partners
    o Understanding existing and potential use cases for connected vehicle technology and their applicability to MO

  • To provide technical leadership within the Connected Vehicle team and wider data science initiatives by:
    o Disseminating best practices to analytics and product teams and providing consultations for their data-based experiments
    o Researching and implementing techniques and tools in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence 
    o Make recommendations on new products, features or updates through analysis of available data

Minimum Criteria
  • You should have considerable relevant project experience in successfully launching, planning, and executing data science projects in a business environment
  • You can demonstrate the ability to manage large data science projects and diverse teams 
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, operations research, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field is required
  • A specialization in automotive telematics is preferred
