About The Role

This is a key role in the Business Systems (IT) department. This position will be focused on leading the PMO team supporting the delivery of our IT Roadmap. The role requires an experienced PMO leader with gravitas and drive to succeed in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Our IT Roadmap defines our next steps in replacing legacy systems and delivering efficiency, innovation and future business agility.

This position is a great opportunity for the right person to be part of an IT team that is at the forefront of driving IT implementations across a range of technologies including cloud and digital.

The Team Leader will have exposure to and IT Strategy development and delivery with opportunities to further develop their skills and experiences in a dynamic, technology focused and fast moving IT organisation.

You will be responsible for:

  • Line managing a team of PMO analysts based in London
  • Assuring the IT Roadmap delivery
  • Owning the MO governance and delivery framework, coaching project managers and ensuring programmes and projects adhere to the standards set
  • Owning the PPM tool ensuring adoption and appropriate use
  • Supporting forward planning of the IT Roadmap and project/programme activity
  • Managing the cross-programme dependency management process
  • Supporting RAID resolution and governance management information reporting
  • Working with other managers to revise and champion continuous process improvements and efficiencies across Business Systems (IT)

The successful candidate will have an understanding of portfolio management, programme and project delivery methodologies (agile, scrum, waterfall), with a track record of leading teams and supporting a portfolio of IT projects. The ideal candidate will be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have good interpersonal and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

About You
You will have gained the following experience/skills:
  • Proven PMO/Portfolio management experience as well as line management and building and developing teams
  • Experience of strong results-focused leadership skills, able to work collaboratively, build relationships and influence others
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, up to and including senior management and board level
  • Proven understanding of the inter-relationship between plans, milestones, resources, change control, risks, issues, finances and benefits management
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with solid experience of facilitating workshops covering risks & issues, dependencies, planning
  • RAID Management including the ability to identify and understand issues and risks, to summarise key concerns and follow through with development of an action plan
  • Experience of working with PPM tools including setting up & embedding new processes and ensuring use adoption
  • Experience of business case construction and review, including benefits identification and realisation
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills and highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint


  • Experience in conducting assurance activities across multiple projects and programmes
  • Experience working in both Agile (Scrum) delivery methodology & Waterfall methodology
  • Executive level PMO reporting
