About The Role
Our IT Roadmap defines our next steps in replacing legacy systems and delivering efficiency, innovation and future business agility.
This position is a great opportunity for the right person to be part of an IT team that is at the forefront of driving IT implementations across a range of technologies including cloud and digital. This is a key role in the Business Systems (IT) department focused on leading the delivery of our IT Roadmap, through providing effective planning mechanisms and strategic alignment.

You’ll play a lead role in the planning & execution of the Annual planning process for Business Systems. Working closely with the Portfolio Manager and wider PMO team, your will be accountable  for;
  • Managing the in-year Portfolio plan and IT roadmap, demonstrating synergies, conflicts and dependencies and developing robust mitigation solutions
  • Managing the cross-programme dependency management process and highlighting any portfolio impacts / implications
  • Driving and maturing effective business case tracking and benefits realisation activities
  • Developing and reporting on the portfolio risk profile through the appropriate governance and stakeholder committees
  • Proactively managing the portfolio pipeline as agreed through the Annual planning process, considering any deviations and wider roadmap implications 
  • Supporting and guiding the wider PMO team on managing progress against project and programme milestones and forward planning activities 
  • Deputising for IT Portfolio Manager where appropriate
  • Keeping abreast of industry best practice, using your innovative approach and progressive thinking to support the IT Portfolio Manager in defining new processes and standards
About You
You will have gained the following experience/skills:
  • You’ll have a good understanding of and experience in strategic planning and translating initiatives into plans & developing roadmaps
  • You’ll have experience and love working within a PMO and a multi layered portfolio environment (Project, Programme and Product Teams)
  • You’ll be open-minded and comfortable questioning the status quo, developing new processes / procedures, whilst always being considerate of others' and their views 
  • You’ll love demonstrating your ability to identify and understand issues & risks, summarising key concerns and providing pragmatic solutions 
  • You’ll have the desire to learn new technologies, disciplines and new delivery approaches
  • You’ll have the ability to remain organised whilst multi-tasking and adapting to evolving priorities and pace. 
  • You love critical path analysis, forecasting, planning and prioritisation 
  • You’ll enjoy being one step ahead and focusing on outlook and the what’s next 
  • You’ll have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence at all levels to promote best practice and planning standards 
  • You’ll be experienced in business case construction, including benefits identification and realisation
Minimum Criteria
  • Understanding of Portfolio Management Programme / Project deliveries using AGILE or PRINCE2 methodology (or equivalent) for medium to large sized projects 
  • Proven understanding of the inter-relationship between plans, milestones, resources, change control, risks, issues, finances and benefits management.
  • Proven experience of RAID management.
  • Understanding of programmes within a large and complex IT environment
  • Highly proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS project
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills for reports and presentations 
  • Facilitating large workshops / meetings
  • Presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Reviewing and improving planning standards & best practices 
  • Senior stakeholder management
