About The Role
12-13 Month Contract, Maternity Cover
You will be part of the Legal & Secretariat Team, reporting directly into the Head of Legal and Secretariat. It is a close-knit team who are supportive of each other and will ‘pitch in’ with any tasks as and when required.  We are proud of our role within the business, providing commercial and pragmatic advice with a focus on technical accuracy at all times.
You will be responsible for:
  •  Drafting, vetting and/or advising on a wide variety of IT contracts including:
    • Infrastructure agreements
    • Cloud hosting agreements
    • Service level and credit mechanisms / agreements
    • Software development agreements
    • Software license agreements
  • General commercial contracts including:
    •  Services agreements
    • Advice on contracts regulated by the Consumer Credit Act
    • Advising the business on a range of day to day matters, both general business matters and matters relating to an asset finance company.
  • Drafting / responding to pre-action letters
  •  Managing external solicitors through a claim.
Company Compliance 
  • Assist in ensuring that the company complies with its statutory and regulatory obligations, in particular FCA requirements, Consumer Rights Act, Data Protection Act.
Presentations & training
  • Preparation and delivery of presentations to directors and other key stakeholders on: 
    • Key points to note / risks in large contracts
    • New legislative developments
    • Training updates
  • Provision of accurate and timely advice in response to queries from the business
  • Research, evaluate and advise on risk in relation to business decisions
  • Respond to correspondence from solicitors or other external sources
  • Providing support to the business on strategic projects and/or Governance committees
  • Assisting the Corporate Services Director, Group Company Secretary and the Head of Legal and Secretariat as and when required
  • Maintain current knowledge in relation to legislation and legislative developments
About You
You will have gained the following experience/skills:
  • Qualified Solicitor
  • Previous in-house experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work without assistance and use own initiative.
  • Ability to ‘hit the ground running’.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to stakeholders at all levels within the business.
  • Ability to prioritise workload; specifically, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously whilst supporting the wider business more generally.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
